A Little Bit of This, a Little Bit of That
As I mentioned not too long ago, I have started a new job, one which entails a very long commute, mostly by train. As such, I had just about zero chance of scooping any other bloggers on today’s Amazon announcement about the start of Kindle e-book lending from libraries (at least in the US). Rather than repeat what others have said, I’ll just point you to the press release and — more importantly, I think — the “How It Works” page from the Amazon web site. If any of you get a chance to borrow an e-book for your Kindle from your local library, how about dropping a comment here to let us know what you thought of the process and the results. You can also let Amazon know how well you think it is or is not working by emailing them at kindle-publiclibraries-feedback@amazon.com.
Back to that long train commute: although I’ve been taking my Kindle with me, I have not really gotten much reading done. I think part of it is that my body has not yet adapted to the new schedule, and I find myself too sleepy in the morning to read while too tired in the evening to concentrate. I sure hope I adapt soon, or I may only be able to read on the weekends, and I need them to catch up on everything else that I need to do.
Don’t get me wrong: I’m glad to have this job, but right now I’m missing spending a peaceful hour or two every night with my Kindle and a good book.
