2011-06-22: It appears the publisher has “fixed” these listings and they now have prices, although the “Prequel” is still listed as free.
I just saw on Pixel of Ink that Joseph Delaney‘s “The Last Apprentice” fantasy series has ten Kindle books available for pre-order for free, scheduled to be released on August 2, 2011. I have never read any of his books, but they all appear to be highly rated on Amazon (at least 4 stars), so I figured, “What the heck?” and clicked on each of them.
For years, Old Gregory has been the Spook for the county, ridding the local villages of evil. Now his time is coming to an end. But who will take over for him? Twenty-nine apprentices have tried—some floundered, some fled, some failed to stay alive.
Only Thomas Ward is left. He’s the last hope, the last apprentice.
So go visit Sharon’s posting on this at PoI, follow the links to pre-order your copies — but double-check the price before clicking, in case they change their minds — then bookmark her blog and/or add it to your RSS feeds.
Thanks, Sharon!
Looks like this was probably a mistake, as all except the Prequel now have prices. I guess we’ll see in a few weeks if they honor the $0.00 prices for those of us who got our pre-orders in before they caught the mistake.
